A customer in Haberfield needed some roller blinds installing in 2 of their bedrooms. As it was a rental property the client wanted to procure a nice quality roller blind at a reasonable price and a blind that was relatively easy to install. We mentioned that Bunnings have a range of standard and made to measure roller blinds for sale that offer value with reasonable quality.

There are many aspects to selecting the right blinds for your room but some of the issues to consider are:

  1. Ease of installation
  2. Ability, if required, to block out light
  3. Child safe devices fitted to the cords
  4. Range of colours and fabrics
  5. Quality of the roller mechanism

It is certainly true that the majority of roller blinds are made to a price and the quality of the roller mechanism from a handyman’s point of view is often seen as less than desirable.

Roller Blind Installation

The job of installing roller blinds, like many other jobs we face, can be more complex than initially envisaged. The roller blinds we were asked to install came totally disassembled and first we had to assemble the roller mechanism and ‘thread’ the cord onto that mechanism! This was done and then the task of securing the brackets to the inside of the brickwork window frame was required. We drilled into the brickwork and installed rawl plugs, which then allowed us to secure the roller blind brackets into position. Next, the important job of securing the blinds into the brackets and finally the all important installation of the child safety device. The job was accomplished in about 50 minutes and the blind worked perfectly, resulting in another happy client!
