We had a call recently to inspect a bathroom ceiling in need of handyman attention. The job involved a bathroom in an inner west apartment that was in poor repair . It was flaky and has some p[patchy areas of mould. We quoted a very reasonable price based on the following work that was required to bring the ceiling back to its former glory:

  1. Remove existing mould. We used a professional quality mould remover to scrub away the mould on the ceiling. Hard work was employed here!
  2. Scraping and sanding down the ceiling. We then spent about 45 minutes carefully scraping the flaky paint and sanding some rough areas.
  3. We the applied 2 coats of a reputable brad of anti mould paint. This was applied to the cornice work and the ceiling.

The final result was a gleaming white bathroom ceiling. No more mould or obvious signs of flaking paint work. We also advised the clients on ways to minimise moisture build up in the bathroom and the options to achieve that.

Painting jobs can often involve a lot more than simply ‘slapping on’ a coat of paint. Correct preparation, including cleaning, mould removal and sanding can all be key components to achieving a great finish and a long lasting result,
